MAD Solutions to feature 3 films at France’s Aflam Festival

MAD Solutions’ is sending three short titles from its distribution slate to the 2024 edition of the Aflam Festival in Marseille, scheduled to take place from April 13th to the 20th.

The lineup includes KILLING BAGHEERA, IF THE SUN DROWNED INTO AN OCEAN OF CLOUDS, and THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE, MIGHT AS WELL GET WARM.

Leading the charge in the MAD lineup is Muschirf Shekh Zeyn’s multiple-award-winning movie KILLING BAGHEERA, which will be screened on April 17th at 5 pm during the festival’s Short Film Session 1.

The short film follows Alan and Bekes, who find in their attempts to enter Europe as refugees that their journey is fraught with dangers and challenges that will put their friendship to the test.

Next up is Wissam Charaf’s IF THE SUN DROWNED INTO AN OCEAN OF CLOUDS, which follows the poetic story of Raed, a security guard stationed at a waterfront construction site in Beirut, Lebanon. Raed must prevent passers-by from accessing the shoreline, leading him on an odd path to exist amidst unfulfilled dreams.

The film is scheduled for two screenings — the first on April 19th at 9 am as part of the festival Roaming the Region Program, and the second on the same day at 2 pm as part of the festival’s Short Film Session 2,

Last but not least is Mouloud Aït Liotna’s THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE, MIGHT AS WELL GET WARM.

The film follows Yanis — a young Kabyle man — who is leaving for Paris. To tie up some loose ends, he goes to the nearby village, where he learns of the death of a childhood friend and meets another at the funeral.

The movie will be featured on April 20th at 12 pm as part of the festival’s Short Film Session 3.
